Dr Musa Wen Ibrahim was born in Mangar, Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on the 20th December, 1958. He attended the Seventh Day Adventist School, Jengre for his primary education from 1964 to 1970 and in 1971 he proceeded to Government Secondary School Kuru, where he obtained the West African School Certificate in 1975.
In 1976, Dr Musa proceeded to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his degree and obtained in 1980, a B.A. (Hons) Degree in English Literature.
After undergoing the mandatory one year National Service, Dr Musa was admitted to another prestigious University, Howard University, Washington DC, USA in 1982 were he obtained a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism in 1984.
In 1985, he relocated to London and worked with Talking Drums, a West African News Magazine for two years, before going back to Howard University, for his Ph.D program in 1987, graduating in 1994.
Dr Musa returned to Nigeria in 1994 and went straight into politics and in 1995 contested for Senate on the Platform of the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM). Even though he was elected, the process was terminated because of the death of then Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
Dr Musa joined the public service in 1999 as the Special Assistant to the Chairman, Interim Management Committee of the Petroleum Special Trust Fund (PTF) whose task was to wind down the activities of the PTF.
He later joined the Mainstream Civil Service as a Deputy Director in 2003 and has worked in various MDAs including National Poverty Eradication Program (NAPEP), Science and Technology, Aviation, Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Federal Ministry of Water Resources.
In between his civil service career, he also served as a Communication Expert, Policy Analysis and Research Project (PARP), a Think Tank of the National Assembly. He became a Director on the 1st of January, 2011, and has been Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water Resources for three months before his appointment as a Federal Permanent Secretary. He was sworn-in by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo on the 16th August, 2017.
Dr Musa is widely travelled, is in excellent health and married with four children.
